In December 2023 we named the first six Hargreaves Icon Award winners. These colleagues were recognised because of their outstanding performance in conjunction with one of our six company values. The Exyte Hargreaves values are Safety, Collaboration, Integrity, Future Focus, Dedication and Excellence.
In the fourth part of our series of interviews we spoke to our Hargreaves Icons about their time in the business. Meet our Dedication Icon, Office Manager, L&D Coordinator, Jane Gregory.
I am the Office Manager (for Bury) and Learning & Development Coordinator for Exyte Hargreaves.
I work with colleagues across the business. I can be arranging SQEP Training, supporting colleagues who are on apprenticeships or accredited learning. Also the everyday tasks needed to assist the office to run.
Coming to work is not a chore! We are fortunate to have a wonderful team spirit and that makes even the hardest tasks easier, as we work together to achieve the outcome. My role allows me to work with colleagues throughout the business, so that makes no day the same. There is no concern that I could ever get bored!
I am extremely proud to have seen the young people who have joined us as apprentices, develop and progress through the year; some have left us to pastures new, but their dedication and achievements makes me so very happy.
I started my career in Retail at Superdrug, working my way up from a Saturday girl whilst doing my A-Levels, to becoming Store Manager at 22. Afterwards I worked across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and South Wales. I moved from Retail into Office Manager roles within Facilities and Vehicle Hire, before entering Further Education (FE) within the area of Special Educational Needs.
To relax I love cooking and gardening, walking my Border Terrier Wurzel, whilst listening to music or sports coverage and of course my daily fix of The Archers.
How does it feel to win the Dedication Icon Award?
I am very surprised and very humbled to have won the award; it is wonderful to be recognised by my colleagues, but I only see it as my job, but 'Thank-you' very much.
