February HARTS Award winner!

The HARTS Awards (Hargreaves Team Stars) is our monthly employee recognition scheme. We congratulate Gary South, one of our EHS Advisors, who is the winner for February 2024. Gary’s quick response on site supported a colleague in medical distress. He truly lives up to our Safety value and offered comments for the Exyte Hargreaves website about his award win.

How does it feel to have been nominated and won a HARTS Award?

Wow, what can I say? I am extremely grateful to have even been nominated, let alone win!

The circumstances around the reason for my nominations are for obvious reasons very humbling. Like I said, I am very grateful and thank those who did nominate me, but I would quite happily swap all nominations for the events of that day to have not taken place.

Luckily, our friend and colleague is on the mend.

Gary is a member of our Defence sector projects team

You were nominated by a large number of your project colleagues. What’s it like working with everyone on site?

The team on site (Gary works on a major Defence sector project), although quite large is very close and luckily, we all get on with each other. There are a few of us who stay away from home, and this helps a lot not being the only one. We regularly organise five a side football, badminton, meals out and occasionally a few light refreshments! This all helps the team gel in my opinion.

Away from site though, I am in regular contact with other members of my team and if I am ever in need of advice or guidance, Neil Taylor (Head of EHS), Viv Rhodes (SHEQ Coordinator) and Kathryn Murphy (Projects EHS Officer) are always very accommodating.

I think this goes for everyone who works for Hargreaves, I have had nothing but help, guidance and great advice from everyone I have ever needed it from, without hesitation.

No doubt my kids will be shaking me down for something (aren’t they always), so it will probably go towards something for them.
