The Role

The role sits within the operational level of the business and reports to the Operations Manager for Pre-Manufacturing.

The purpose of the role includes the receipt, technical analysis review and processing of information and coordinating product production work packs through to manufacture. You will oversee,

co-ordinate & execute product production processing activities supporting pre-manufacture as part of the integrated production team.

 

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to the following;

Production

  • To ensure production processes are and operated at maximum efficiency and speed consistent with the manufacturing plan and the quality requirements of the work.
  • To identify or isolate problems rapidly, assisting engineering, quality or technical specialists for rapid resolution.
  • To constantly seek ways of improving productivity and reducing costs.

Quality

  • To ensure that work is monitored as required for quality and to liaise with manufacturing quality team as required.
  • To ensure that good judgment and care in the handling and control of materials and processes is established across the factory to ensure that quality failures are minimised.
  • To ensure customer requirements and specifications are reviewed and understood before manufacturing is carried out.
  • To work together with Production, Quality & Project Management to provide excellent customer service levels.

Health and Safety

  • To ensure/support that all Health & Safety procedures are adhered to by staff and that work is conducted in a safe manner at all times.
  • To provide good judgment concerning incidents, hazards or potential hazards and take prompt and appropriate action.
  • To lead by example in all H&S policies and procedures at all times.

Waste

  • To minimise the waste of materials or productive time through the guidance, support and coaching of production staff.

Training & Flexibility

  • To undertake training as required by the company from time to time on new processes, management, machinery, safety or other matters relating to the development of a world-class manufacturing operation and a highly skilled, capable and flexible workforce.
  • To support a range of management tasks or projects as may be identified from time to time by the company or management team.
  • To seek improvement in personal performance and the performance of colleagues through training.
  • To ensure that employees within the team are sufficiently trained and flexible to meet the varying requirements of production.

Teamwork, Communication and Continuous Improvement

  • To maintain good and co-operative relationships with colleagues involved in other aspects of the process or operations in order to promote strong teamwork and co-operation across the company to meet customer requirements.
  • To ensure that all administrative tasks, reports, documentation and data collection and entry are carried out as required by the company.
  • To participate in improvement groups or teams to bring your own knowledge and experience, and those of others, to bear on improving processes, production or the working environment.
  • To seek prevention of faults, downtime and waste, and improvement in productivity, processes or the working environment through the exercise of good judgment, experience and the coaching and guidance of others.

The Working Environment

  • To ensure that the factory environment is kept in a clean, well-ordered, safe and hygienic condition.
  • To continually seek to review the factory layout to improve productivity, H&S and workflow.

 

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Good level of numeracy/literacy/problem solving
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to complete work to a high standard
  • MIG/TIG Welding working knowledge
  • Metal Fabrication working knowledge
  • Computer skills including Company systems and Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.
  • Lean Manufacturing
  • KPI recording and interpretation.
