The Role

The QA//QC Welding Inspector is a key role, ensuring the integrity and safety of materials, components, and systems, through the application of various quality control techniques. This will include the qualification of items in accordance with engineering drawings, conducting visual and dimensional examinations, and the application of non-destructive testing (NDT) including dye-penetrant and magnetic particle inspections.

 

Working as an integral part of the QA/QC team, you will support our compliance with organisational procedures, client/project requirements and mandatory legal requirements where applicable. The role will also include, supporting client and 3rd party inspections, and the preparation of the supporting QA/QC documentation.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections and tests during manufacture, in accordance with inspection and test plans (ITPs), such as visual, dye penetrant and magnetic particle techniques.
  • Interpret and evaluate test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, and document findings accurately.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance QA/QC processes and procedures.
  • Liaise with the manufacturing team to exchange knowledge regarding inspection and quality requirements for the manufacturing programme.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Some inspection activities may be required off-site, for example at the clients premises or at a sub-contractor, may be required as part of this role.

 

Qualifications and Experience Required 

Essential 

  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes including general manufacture of folded and welded ducting, welding and fabrication, general inspections techniques and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of quality standards and industry specifications for ductwork construction and associated ventilation equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret organisational management system procedures, client / project, and international specifications (i.e., BS EN, ISO and DW 144 etc,).
  • Must have an inclination for personal development and be prepared to attend training, working towards professional qualifications according to business needs.
  • Computer literate.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • SC Security Clearance or ability to obtain.

 

Highly Desirable (but not essential)

  • Detailed knowledge of commonly used inspection and test techniques including QA/QC knowledge and NDT.
  • CSWIP
