The Role

The Head of BD & Marketing reports directly to the Managing Director and works collaboratively with the Leadership Team to align business development and marketing efforts with organisational strategy. This role is critical to driving sustainable growth, securing new business, and enhancing the company’s market presence. The position also manages a team of Estimators, Business Development Managers, and Marketing Coordinators. The role leads the entire pre-construction process.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Business Development
    • Develop and maintain the business pipeline.
    • Build and develop new and existing client relationships.
    • Lead business processes, including tender activities.
    • Deliver compelling and compliant bid submissions.
  • Marketing & Brand Development
    • Develop and implement marketing strategies to enhance the company’s market presence and reputation.
    • Oversee the creation of promotional materials, campaigns, and participation in industry events.
    • Strengthen the company’s brand image and visibility within target markets.
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Manage, lead, and develop a team of Business Development Managers, Estimators, and Marketing Executives.
    • Foster an environment of continuous improvement, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaboration
    • Work closely with the Leadership Team to align BD and marketing activities with people, revenue, operational, and financial goals.
    • Contribute to cross-functional projects, ensuring a seamless approach to organisational objectives and customer satisfaction.
    • Partner with the HR team to support talent acquisition, retention, and development within the business.
  • Governance and Compliance
    • Ensure all BD and marketing activities comply with governance, financial, and compliance standards.
    • Ensure parent company governance deliverables are fulfilled and completed.
    • Manage risks associated with client relationships and brand reputation proactively.
    • Deliver compliant bids emphasising adherence to industry standards and quality.

 

Qualifications and Experience Required

Essential 

  • Strong industry knowledge in nuclear, defence, and high-integrity sectors.
  • Proven track record in a similar role.
  • Experienced manager with strategic thinking and leadership skills.
  • Excellent team management capabilities.
  • Strong presentation, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.

  Desirable 

  • Mechanical knowledge (e.g., high-integrity welding and fabrication).
  • Experience in marketing for high-integrity or safety-critical systems
